 Most churches in Nigeria have various dress codes for their members. Some churches have nothing against ladies not wearing scarves, while some denominations make it compulsory.Jewelries and body ornaments are issues in some denominations, while others don’t seem to mind. These rules are majorly based on the churches’ doctrines and beliefs. However, there are general fashion rules pertaining to dressing for service. Yes, there are!
In fashion, there are rules, principles, and guidelines on what to wear, how to wear, where to wear, and who wears. In a way, some of these apply to ‘church fashion’
Most times, one observes people in the church on Sundays wearing sleeveless dresses with strap hands, skimpy outfits which expose the thighs, dresses with plunging necklines and those that expose the busts. Also, open-back/backless dresses, dresses bearing the mid-riff, monostripes and other outfits which exposes the body more than usual. These outfits draw unnecessary attention  and distract people from paying attention to the preacher. These fashion flops (my opinion, folks!) are common in many churches.. Popular musician, Britney Spears was recently spotted overtly wearing a very skimpy outfit to church and I still wonder what in the world she was thinking!

I am of the opinion that to visit the house of God, one may dress gorgeously but sensibly. Do not disrespect God by wearing provocative outfits to church on Sundays. You equally attract and ‘command’ respect for yourself when you dress properly.
