That 'Gwen Stefani For OPI' Nail Polish Collaboration Is Available Now

Gwen Stefani

A new year means a new class of music x brand collaborations and up first is Gwen Stefani’s long-awaited nail polish line for OPI. We first reported on the perfectly matched collaboration last October (Stefani has always been a nail art pro and a pioneer at the intersection of music and fashion) and, last November, posted the leggy and very platinum promo pics for the line’s signature shade, “Over & Over.” Now you can grab the collection at ULTA—with the exception of “Over & Over” (no word yet on when that shade will be available for sale).
Stefani’s polishes don’t disappoint. There are six colors, a few of which are named for No Doubt classics and her own solo tracks like the hot pink “Hey Baby,” “4 in the Morning”—imagine the sky at that hour—and a silver “Push and Shove” that’s packaged as a “duet set” with the very punny "Lay Down That Base." There’s also a gilded “Love. Angel. Music. Baby,” named for her fashion-themed debut solo album and coinciding clothing line (abbreviated as L.A.M.B.), a silver glitter dubbed “In Stefani Fashion,” and a vampy crimson called “I Sing in Color”—whose name feels like a missed opportunity for super nerdy Stefani fans (*ahem*) who still hold a candle for the singer’s duet with Sublime, “I Saw Red.” Maybe they’re saving that color name for the next collection?

Food Friday: Snow Day Staples

Food Friday Don't go hungry at home.
Photo: Shop Jeen/One And The Same NYC/1991 Inc./Forever 21/Hello Cellophane
If you live on the East Coast or in the Midwest, chances are today was a snow day, because the white powder decided to pour down on us all night. (If you live on the West Coast, #BYE.) For those of us who are at home and didn't stock up on provisions and are not really down to go out in -5 degree weather, our food options are limited to the things we have left over in cabinets, like cereal and soup. For this installation of Food Friday, we figured we'd pay homage to the foods that are keeping our hunger at bay until we decide to go out or get delivery. Check 'em out below—they may even help you remember a nonperishable you forgot you bought precisely for situations like this!
Campbell's Soup
Stay warm with this Andy Warhol-inspired Campbell's Soup shirt.
Photo: Forever 21
Soup is like a nectar from the gods during the winter. You can chill (not literally, hopefully) at home in this Andy Warhol-inspired Campbell's Soup-print shirt, which is only $14 at Forever 21. Just be careful if you decide to eat tomato soup while wearing it!
Cereal
Cozy cereal socks.
Photo: Shop Jeen
For many people, cereal is among breakfast (or dinner) staples on any given day. But on days when you'd rather not leave your house, it is the only staple. These Fruit Loops socks will preserve your body heat if your (house) heat is taking its sweet time doing the job.
Pasta Bolognese
Remind yourself how to cook using this tote.
Photo: Alessandra Olanow Shop
Again, most people have at least one box of pasta stowed away in their cabinet. If you don't have the other ingredients you need to compliment said pasta, this tote bag will remind you what you need for pasta bolognese (or some variation of it) and how to make it. Plus, when you finally walk to the grocery store, you can use this bag to carry everything home!
Lucky Charms
The only part of cereal that matters.
Photo: 1991 Inc.
If you crave sugar but have no dessert in your home, you could (a) scold yourself for not having dessert, or (b) pick out the marshmallows from Lucky Charms and eat them in fistfuls. If you don't have Lucky Charms either, just throw on this colorful marshmallow sweatshirt and promise yourself that the next time it snows, you'll be prepared.
Condiments
A condiment shirt for when things get desperate.
Photo: Hello Cellophane
This tank top features food you should only eat in the most desperate of circumstances. We're talking condiments: ketchup, mustard, relish, etc. Now, the snow would have to be pretty bad for most people to resort to eating what normally only accompanies an actual meal, but desperate times call for desperate measures. (Not saying I've ever put ketchup on a snowball and ate it, but...) If you decide to just, y'know, wait it out rather than eating relish from the jar, this shirt will also be appropriate for summer BBQs. Hey, remember summer?

New Year's Eve Outfit Ideas And Ariana Grande's 'Teen Vogue' Cover Top Our Headlines This Week

Ariana Grande on the cover of 'Teen Vogue.'

• This week we ushered in a new year (whatup 2014!) and came up with Four New Year's Eve outfits based around things you already had in your closet. You may wanna keep this post bookmarked because—SHH—these outfits work on non-NYE nights too!
• Ariana Grande posed with the world's worst chameleon for her Teen Vogue cover shoot. Ariana looked ready for Valentine's Day in pink, but that chameleon did not.
• Miley Cyrus welcomed the new year in a sequined outfit and fur coat by The Blonds. The designing duo is working on some of Miley's Bangerz Tour outfits, too, so we're now expecting a lotta sequins.
• We broke down Lady Gaga's 2013 style by the numbers, which included three high-tech dresses, 10 pantsless outfits, 25 wigs, and so much more.
• Finally, we discovered that One Direction released their own line of prescription glasses. Since there weren't any campaign images and we're not exactly within the six to 11-year-old demo, this news only angered us.

One Direction Now Has A Line Of Prescription Eyewear For Some Reason

One Direction sells a lot of stuff that I buy because I am a chump a loyal fan. In 2013, their cute faces were printed on perfume boxes, school supplies, and lipstick tubes (all of which I own). Now, though, things are getting a little out of hand. Vision Express, a British eyewear retailer, has teamed up with the band for a line of girls' glasses. They cost a cool $215.

Vision Express has seven pairs of the limited edition specs available online, all of which either say "One Direction" on the arm or display the boys' tiny signatures. The frames are largely pink and purple (because, duh, those are the only two colors girls like! #marketresearch) or tortoiseshell, for the trendy 11-year-old. Also, Vision Express doesn't bother to show you what the glasses look like from the front because the arms are the only part of glasses that matter. Obviously.

The line of prescription eyewear appears to be aimed at girls between the ages of six and 11, which seems a little young to me? I haven't hung around with many six-year-olds recently, but when I used to, they weren't the best at keeping track of their possessions. Two hundred bucks seems like a lot of money to drop on glasses your child may lose/break during recess/forget somewhere because she is a small person with no semblance of responsibility. Get her a notebook with Harry's face on it and plain glasses so she can see it. It'll be much cheaper.
This collaboration didn't produce any campaign images, which is the worst, IMHO. What good are One Direction glasses to me if I (a) don't wear glasses, (b) am slightly older than the target demographic, and (c) DON'T GET ANY NEW PICTURES OF 1D TO LOOK AT? (Answer: No good.)
I've seen a lot of crazy 1D paraphernalia in my day/own bedroom, but these glasses take the cake. Check out all the Styles (LOL, get it??) here. If you live in the UK, you can even go into a store and see how the front of the frames look. Let me know, I'm curious!

Go Behind The Scenes At Rihanna's Balmain Campaign Shoot

Rihanna, Balmain Rihanna on the set of her Balmain campaign.
Photo: Balmain's YouTube Page
Late last year (that joke never gets old, right?), Rihanna nonchalantly dropped what looked to be her ENTIRE Balmain campaign on Instagram. A campaign that has BadGalRiRi wearing houndstooth suits in abandoned steam rooms is a surefire win in our books, but we might even love the behind-the-scenes look even more. Candid Rihanna! Getting her hair and makeup done! Pacing around the set in a head-to-toe j'outfit! It's the best. Balmain has established a permanent place in our BTS-loving hearts by releasing not one, but THREE videos of Rihanna's campaign!

In one of the videos, Rihanna and her stylist Mel Ottenberg discuss how many looks they shot (five), who photographed them (Inez & Vinoodh), and what the shoot was like (epic). Rih assured viewers that the process of making the campaign was fun, which is great, because Rihanna works hard and deserves a little fun every now and again.
In another video, Olivier Rousteing, Balmain's creative director and Rihanna stan, explains that he created this collection around Rihanna after she visited his studio in June. He says that the collection is based upon Rih's ability to mix "fashion with music," which is obviously an art we at MTV Style take very seriously.
The final video explores the campaign's approach to Rih's makeup, which they kept natural because, SPOILER ALERT, "Rihanna wakes up looking amazing." First, ladies, tell 'em, I WOKE UP LIH DIS, I woke up lih dis. Second, HOW DOES HE KNOW??? Have there been some fashion sleepovers we've been missing out on? Our invites must've been lost in the mail... Regardless, we still have yet to see this wavy bob on Rihanna IRL, but we'd like to. It #werks. You can peep all five of Rihanna's campaign images on her Instagram to get a complete sense of just how naturally beautiful she is (duh) and what not to wear in a steam room.

Let's Discuss Nicki Minaj's 'The Other Woman' Wigs

Nicki Minaj Nicki Minaj as a blonde in "The Other Woman" trailer.
Photo: 20th Century Fox
It's a cycle we're all familiar with by now: Nominations for big awards shows come out in early December, you see movies you'd never heard of before listed for major accolades, you use your holiday break to catch up on these critically acclaimed films, and in the process, you see a trailer for a movie starring Nicki Minaj. OK, so that last part is only true of this year (and Nicki's more of a supporting character to Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton's boobs in The Other Woman), but the rest of that is an inevitable annual truth.
I'd heard mumblings of Nicki's breakout film role all spring during filming and saw that the trailer dropped last month, but it wasn't until I was FACE TO FACE with the preview in theaters that it all sank in (all it takes is one cat GIF to break me #factsonly). A sampling of my initial reactions: OMG! Kate Upton! Acting! Sort of!; Am I willing to watch another movie just for Leslie Mann if Paul Rudd is not also in it?; and the one question that has stuck with me since prying myself from those dingy, butt-worn theater seats, "Am I crazy or did I just see Nicki Minaj with two different hairstyles and colors for a two-minute trailer?"
Nicki Minaj Nicki Minaj with black hair and bangs in "The Other Woman" trailer.
Photo: 20th Century Fox
Yes. Take a quick spin through the video on YouTube, and you too can confirm this. Nicki Minaj starts the trailer (she's the first voice you hear!) as a blonde with long, sweeping waves, then later returns at the 0:33 mark with long, straight black hair and blunt bangs. Normally, this wouldn't phase me. I am well-versed in Nicki's love of wigs, from the candy colors and unusual shapes of her early days to the more natural styles she seems to prefer lately. And if Nicki were playing herself in this movie, it would make PERFECT sense. But she's not.
She's billed on The Other Woman's cast as Lydia, Cameron Diaz's "opinionated assistant" at what looks to be a prestigious NYC law firm, and while there's nothing that says Lydia couldn't have just decided to hit the salon in between the scenes that were spliced together for this trailer (a completely plausible sequence of events), behind-the-scenes photos from filming suggest that she may actually have FIVE hairstyles total in the film, if not more. Thus, Lydia, the character, must also be a huge, unabashed fan of wearing wigs (else her hair would all break off from the chemical processing and her follicles would revolt against her). We should also make it clear that these are not just any wigs. These are not the too-shiny, tangled nests of synthetic fibers you find at your neighborhood Spirit Halloween. These are extremely high quality. Maybe even human hair.
Now IDK when the last time you went shopping for a realistic looking wig was, but those things are not cheap. Sure, sometimes you'll find a passable bargain at $50 (usually works best for the darker colors), but most of the time, the above average locks will run you upwards of $150. Most of Nicki's The Other Woman looks, though, feature visible roots to make them that much more realistic, and those are not only difficult to come by, they're usually between $1,000 and $2,000. Pair all that with the knowledge that the average executive assistant at a New York City law firm makes a salary of $56,000 a year, she's probably paying Manhattan rent, and she clearly has an appreciation for designer clothes, accessories, false eyelashes, and a RULL good matte finish foundation, and you may, like me, be starting to wonder how this all adds up.

Nicki Minaj Gets Cloned For Her Kmart Commercial

Nicki Minaj So many Nicki Minajs for Kmart!
Photo: Kmart's YouTube Page
At the beginning of November, before she decided to hibernate and leave us in the lurch, Nicki Minaj previewed one of the looks she'd be wearing in a commercial for her Kmart collection on Instagram. Well, that commercial was finally released, and it doesn't just feature Nicki in one outfit but multiple Nickis in multiple outfits! It's like a remake of Multiplicity starring Nicki Minaj! If you thought Lady Gaga wore a lot of wigs, just wait till you see how many Nicki manages to include in a 30-second commercial.

The ad features six different Nickis, each with her own unique hairstyle and outfit, all of 'em getting ready to go out. A curly-haired Nicki chills on the bed in a crop top and leggings, while a long-haired one applies lip gloss in the mirror, surrounded by three other Nickis. She doesn't seemed to be freaked out about the clones, so neither are we. No matter what her hair looks like or what she does to get ready, every time Nicki wants to leave the house feeling her best, she wears a piece that she designed for Kmart.

Much like the commercial for her perfume Minajesty, this one encourages women to find confidence through a product that Nicki's promoting. Nicki feels insecure too: Her song "Marilyn Monroe" provides the soundtrack for the spot and she literally says "I'm insecure" in the lyrics. But then she puts on a dress from her line and has the confidence to blow kisses on the red carpet. Look at her attitude Nicki in that studded hat! She didn't chew her gum like that earlier in the bath! She was just coyly blowing bubbles.
Ultimately, she opts for a tight, black, cut-out dress. She wears it with sunglasses (at night...), and I'm willing to bet she also smells like Minajesty. Whatever works, y'all: Nicki manages to exude confidence.

Lady Gaga Goes Shirtless For New Versace Ad

Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga for Versace.
Photo: @ladygaga Twitter
Lady Gaga wished her Twitter followers a happy new year in a way most humans cannot: with a new image from her Versace campaign. This is the third we've seen, but the first to feature a shirtless Mother Monster. We thought 2013 was the year of shirtless stars, but maybe Gaga is trying to bring the trend into the new year. It's a good thing these ads have her in that long, platinum, Donatella-inspired wig, right? Otherwise this one would only be suitable for, like, Playboy, and I have a sneaking suspicion Playboy readers are not Versace's target audience.
The last ad we saw from Gaga x Versace was released right before the American Music Awards and then, mere hours later, Gaga walked the red carpet in a lilac gown very similar to the one in the campaign. Maybe we're hours away from an IRL shirtless Gaga sighting? If so, I hope she's somewhere warm.
This most recent ad only features one item of clothing—a pair of printed pants—but many accessories. Eight rings! Two very heavy looking necklaces! A Medusa belt buckle! It's like the old adage says: If you don't wear a shirt, over-accessorize. I have a pillow with those words embroidered.
The styling in this shot is the same as its predecessors, from the butt-length, middle-parted wig to Gaga's bleached brows and barely there makeup. She looks very relaxed despite having, like, 80 pounds of metal around her neck and waist. She's definitely worn more elaborate outfits to sit on an airplane for 10-plus hours, though, so, maybe this is what Lady Gaga wears for a quick catnap.
The number of images in the campaign hasn't been revealed yet (MOAR PLZ!!), but it seems pretty likely that every ad will feature Gaga decked out in her Donatella wig and at least one Medusa head. After all, she is, as Donatella described, "the embodiment of Versace DNA."

check this out..Rihanna Did Cara Delevingne's Hair And Cooked In Her New Year's Eve Outfit..wow

Rihanna
Rihanna gets ready to ring in 2014.
Photo: @badgalriri's Instagram
When Rihanna dresses for anything—especially New Year’s Eve—you can guarantee her outfit isn't going to be #basic. At her festive dinner party, the singer boldly wore a black bustier and satin platinum suit to cook for her crew—no apron needed, of course. Like everything else she does, Rih cooks with an edge. Not only did she treat her friends to a meal she helped make AND plate herself (all while keeping her pristine suit untouched throughout), but before supper, Rihanna gave a guest a hand with her hair. Rih styled the do of One-time rumored roomie/model Cara Delevingne into a sleek ponytail. #girlshelpinggirls

Fur? Check. Heels? Check. Veiled headband? Check plus.

The Queen Chameleon also showed off a shiny look, but hers was side-swept, short, and replete with baby bangs—which, no doubt, are due for a revisit on the runway. Later in the evening, when Rih and her friends went partying at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club (where BadGal also performed), she updated her look with a pair of hot pink Manolo Blahniks, one of her MAC lipsticks in a similar tone, a floor-length fur coat, cross-shaped hair clips, and a veiled bedazzled headband by her go-to beanie brand, Silver Spoon Attire. Another day, another Rihanna hair trend.
