The Moschino Cheap and Chic Spring 2014 RTW Collection brought a breath of fresh spring air to London Fashion Week. One could say that the set, and collection, “lightened things up”, literally! The inspiration behind the show was even more interesting; imagine what a “Miami Barbie” would look like. Imagine no more because the Moschino Cheap and Chic Spring 2014 RTW Collection nailed the look perfectly.
Admittedly, the idea is a little quirky, but then again so are most of the Alexander McQueen runway collections. This collection had everything but a reunion with Malibu Ken.

The label shot the ‘lookbook’ at an East End warehouse instead of on the runway. The ‘lookbook’ features a plethora of bubblegum pink and sunshine yellow. The collection shouts Barbie from the mountaintops; from the plastic green outfits to the myriad of prints. This collection will create enthusiastic little girls all over the globe as well as nostalgic big girls like me. The masterful and colorful floral embroidery is impressive and one-of-a-kind. Of course, the collection just would not be Barbie without the feathery accessories and clothing. “We are trying to bring something fun and fresh into the hard times that we are living in,” explained creative director Francesca Rubino. “That’s not a bad thing, is it?” I would say that the mission has ended in a great success!
