To have a stained glass nail art, all you will need is the colorful nail colors along with a nail art brush, a black nail color to do the frame, a top coat, a q-tip and a nail polish remover. To do the framework, black nail color works best as it can define other colors in the most appropriate way but you can still any dark colors such as brown or maroon by matching the other colors you are going to use.
Before you start, you have to get your nail colors chosen where you can follow a theme. If you are following a theme, then you also have to fix the design where you will need to know beforehand that on which block you have to apply which nail color. But if you are applying the colors randomly, you can just grab the nail colors and start with the nail art.
For stained glass nail art, you can start with one nail by having this design and keep other nails in solid colors which will be a preferred design if you are a beginner. But if you intend to try an advanced level, you can always have the patterns on all nails or even you have them in different shapes such as a heart, circle or triangle!

When you have chosen then design, the next thing you may want to consider applying any glitter or shiny effects on your nail arts. You have to select it before you start because if you want the blocks with glitter nail colors, then you have to choose glitter polishes instead of the solid colors. So choose the type of nail color you want and get started with this pretty nail art.
By having you nails ready for the nail art, apply a layer or base coating with a neutral nail color such as white or beige. It is not that you must do it with a neutral color but it will help the nail colors to pop up in their real shades. The next thing you will need to do is, draw the frame with a black nail color by using a thin nail art brush. If you are not sure if you can do that, you can always try with stamping where you can find the patterns such as mosaic and many more in nail decals.
When you are done with the frame either by the stamping or by the black nail color, you have to let the nail color dry before you apply the colors on the blocks. Now the tricky part starts where you have to dip the nail art brush in each color and apply them on the blocks with the right amount. Don’t pick too much of the nail color which will lead to excess nail polish in one block and it will become difficult to clean it.
Apply light strokes on the block and ensure that it is filler properly and there is no block left. If you want to keep some of the block with the natural shade i.e. to show the base color, you can keep them blank but in that case, you will need the right color for the base so that it matches properly with the rest of the colors.
When the nail colors get dried on the blocks in the frame, apply another layer of outlines using the black nail colors so that the frame can cover the excess nail colors that has been misplaced when it was being applied. Apply a layer of top coat follower by removing the excess nail color from the edges and you are done with beautiful stained glass nail arts!
