By now, it’s become routine for Kanye x A.P.C. collaborations to be revealed on the low in magazine profiles—which is seriously shocking given how vocal Ye is. Recall how the pair’s first time working together was revealed in one unassuming sentence—"That
might be accomplished by his new men’s capsule collection of jeans,
T-shirts, and hoodies for a hip French brand, to be unveiled in
July"—that took a few glances to unearth thanks to the endless Yisms
sprinkled throughout the piece. Well, according to a recent profile of
A.P.C.’s founder
Jean Touitou at
Business of Fashion,
the pair will unleash another capsule collection. "If I do a collection
with Kanye West, obviously I’m taking risks," Touitou told BoF, who
then wrote "Touitou confirms that
A.P.C. will collaborate with...Kanye West...again."
How risky can a Kanye collaboration reeeally be though, given that Ye’s first batch for A.P.C. caused the U.S. site to
crash within seconds
after the collection went live? Even with its steep price tags ($120
for a "hip-hop T-shirt"? You crazy for this one, Ye!), the rapper’s
collection of basics nearly sold out completely. Or is Touitou referring
to Ye’s cantankerous personality? Touitou’s gone on record before
talking about the challenges of working with him: "He could want a piece
to be baggy and skinny at the same time...[but] oh well, you just find a
way." Hopefully, the pair also found a way to lower the prices on their
collection this time around. There’s no info yet on a release date, but
stay tuned here.
