Spots, bloated bellies, frizzy hair... women are spending a whole MONTH each year fretting about their appearance

Spots, bloating, frizzy hair and looking too pale are just some of the concerns that have British women worrying about their looks for an entire month each year.
The study of 2,000 women, out today, found that annually, on average, they worry about their looks for 627 hours and 28 minutes.
Much of this time is spent simply fretting over what to wear and then worrying about how the outfit looks throughout the day. But being overweight is the biggest concern for women, as they fret for up to an hour and 46 minutes about it each week.

Girls spend a further one hour and 26 minutes a week frantically trying to cover up their curves, with eight in 10 women admitting they often have days where they just want to cover up problem areas regardless of what they see in the mirror.

But conversely, looking too thin also makes women feel anxious for a further weekly 22 minutes.
Having a good complexion and skin colour is important to many girls, who agonise over spots, skin colour and tone for up to 2 hours and 22 minutes a week.
'Woman will have at least nine days a month where they have absolutely no confidence at all about their figure and appearance'
While waking with frizzy or greasy hair regularly worries a third of ladies - who then go on to feel uneasy about their hair for 57 minutes.
Women spend 50 minutes a week deciding what to wear, and a further one hour and 32 minutes worrying if what they have chosen then looks okay.
Even underwear presents problems, with ladies taking up to 39 minutes a week to decide what lingerie looks best on a weekly basis.
Researchers for the study commissioned by Invista, owner of the Lycra Beauty fabric brand, also found that when it comes to choosing an appropriate outfit for the day, 82 per cent of women admit their final choice will depend on how confident they are feeling about their appearance at the time.
And nine out of 10 girls always select an outfit which hides the parts of the body they most dislike or feel least confident about.
Per week, women worry about having spots for 56 minutes and an uneven skin tone 50 minutes

Attending a wedding requires the most thought on what to wear, closely followed by a party or a night out.
But for many women, events like lunch with friends, a new date or a party lead to weeks of stress, as they dread not being able to find a nice outfit to cover their lumps and bumps.
Although 48 per cent of ladies admit they probably spend far too much time worrying about their

Miranda Kerr is the star of Mango's AW campaign
Languidly leaning against a window sporting a sharply tailored blazer, cream shirt and slouchy peg leg, Miranda Kerr looks every inch the model businesswoman in the new AW campaign for Mango.
In another, the Australian model, who has been the face of the Spanish brand for just over a year, is seen wrapping up warmly in a Scandinavian-style fair isle knit, edgily ripped boyfriend jeans and a cosy sheepskin coat.
A third shows the 30-year-old pouting and leaning back against a wall in a party-perfect black mini-dress complete with an edgy leather hem.

This week the Instagram addict has been sharing behind the scenes pictures from her latest bikini shoot.

BIG hair, bold make-up and piles of bling: 80s stars revealed in all their gaudy glory in book celebrating snapper Mario Casilli

Joan Collins is the cover star of a new book dedicated to 1980s photographer Mario Casilli. She writes in the forword: 'Mario captured absolute glamour'
It was the decade of Dynasty, Dallas, shoulder pads and excess in all forms. Big was beautiful, greed was good, and beauty was bold.
Popular television series', films and music reflected the 1980s trend for beautiful people living extraordinary lives.
And cult photographer Mario Casilli captured those mesmerising subjects at their best, defining forever the look of 80s pop culture through his soft focus lens.
Joan Collins is the cover star of a new book dedicated to 1980s photographer Mario Casilli. She writes in the forword: 'Mario captured absolute glamour'

Stars like Joan Collins adored him for making them look fabulous, and his amazing photography is now immortalised in a spectacular coffee table book.

Joan, now 80, even wrote the foreword for the tome: 'I don't think any photographer today has managed to capture a decade in the way that Mario captured the absolute glamour and decadence in his 1980s photographs.'
As a young photographer working for Paul Hesse at his legendary Sunset Strip photographic studios, Mario Casilli mixed with the biggest names in Hollywood. His ease with high profile subjects and beautiful women would come to define his career.

Between 1957 and 1981 Casilli became one of the most prolific photographers for Playboy magazine, shooting no fewer than 57 Playmates, countless other pictorials and several covers.
He even persuaded Barbara Streisand to pose in her underwear.
The lensman was given key card #2 to Playboy's legendary chain of clubs; #1 being reserved for the magazine's boss, Hugh Hefner.
During the 1980s Casilli began shooting the most high profile TV and music stars in America, capturing the excess, the glamour and decadence of the decade through its most flamboyant household names.

The biggest shows on TV were to define the decade. Shows making the cover of TV Guide would likely gain 3 or 4 ratings points so portraits of the stars were big business.
Casilli turned them into an art form and his soft focus, high-gloss vision would come to embody the 1980s American dream.
From Moonlighting, Miami Vice, Knight Rider and Baywatch to Fresno and The Golden Girls, the master photographer turned his lens to popular culture and redefined it.
Casilli's style was also a natural fit for rock and pop stars of the 1980 and the greatest musicians in the world queued up to be his subjects, including Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton and the Bee Gees.
Mario passed away in 2001 at the age of 71. Now his work is being published as a collection for the first time by Reel Art Press.

Beards, bottom tattoos and sun-lounger selfies: Sarah Vine on the most talked-about beauty trends of 2013 to 2014

Sarah Vine brings you something to keep your carb-addled brains entertained: a reminder of all that was fabulous and/or entertaining in the world of beauty in 2013.
Boxing Day: Alka- Seltzer, leftovers and bored children. That faint feeling of self-loathing that comes from having spent too much money on things you didn't need or want.
The Christmas manicure that looked so witty is now tawdry and chipped by washing up. The unmistakeable throb of a nascent spot on your chin. Bloat.
My solution is to banish husband and children to the nearest park/ multiplex/football game and embark on my annual post-festive purge.
Sarah Vine brings you something to keep your carb-addled brains entertained: a reminder of all that was fabulous and/or entertaining in the world of beauty in 2013.

Behind the fridge, the oven, the cupboard under the sink: nothing will escape my rubber gloves and bleach. And if I'm feeling really brave, I'll slip into my bio-hazard suit and tackle my daughter's bedroom. A clean house equals a clear mind, and there's no better way to see in the New Year.

That said, I do realise most people will think I'm mad. So, for those of you who will be spending today curled up on the sofa with the remnants of a family-sized box of Celebrations, here's something to keep your carb-addled brains entertained: a reminder of all that was fabulous and/or entertaining in the world of beauty in 2013.
The year began, as it so often does, with a new diet. Popularised by an episode of TV's Horizon and the Mail's hugely successful 2-Day Diet, it involved adopting a reduced calorie intake on two out of seven days.

The benefits are bountiful: lowered cholesterol, lower blood pressure, regulation of blood sugar, improved mental clarity, focus and concentration. Oh, and weight loss, which, let's face it, is all we really care about.
Best of all, though, was the relative ease and simplicity of the thing. After all, everyone can stay off chocs for a day at a time; it's doing it for weeks on end that's hard.
So, while we all bored each other senseless with details of our new regime, a truly terrible portrait of Kate Middleton was unveiled to provide a little light relief.

Somehow artist Paul Emsley made our radiant Duchess look as if she'd been pulling night shifts in a dust factory.
The royal couple were polite about it; not so the critics, who professed themselves truly impressed by the way Emsley had managed to turn one of the world's most beautiful women into an old bag.
One for the vaults, I fear.
At the Baftas in February, some men turned up in beards, causing a frenzy and eliciting endless column inches about the 'return of facial hair'.
Granted, those men included George Clooney, Ben Affleck and Hugh Jackman; but 'man grows beard' is not exactly a new story.
Meanwhile, Dame Helen Mirren dyed her hair pink, an uncharacteristic lapse of taste for which we have yet to receive an explanation.

Even more baffling was Cheryl Cole's decision to get an entire rosebush tattooed on her behind. But then Jesse J shaved her head, Katherine Jenkins ran a marathon in full make-up, Gwyneth Paltrow forgot to wear her pants at the Iron Man premiere and Kate Moss turned up to a party in not much more than her tights - and Cole's bottom rose seemed tame by comparison.
Fad-wise, this year there were plenty. There was the vampire facial, involving blood and needles; teeth grilles (as worn by Rihanna and, less plausibly, Madonna); selfies (photographs of one's perfect body snapped in the mirror of from the perspective of the sun lounger); belfies (a selfie from behind); twerking; and extreme waxing, the latter two pioneered in eye-watering detail by pop star Miley Cyrus.
The Only Way is Essex star Maria Fowler takes a selfie
Cheryl Cole's enormous tattoo shocked the nation
Selfies (as demonstrated by Maria Fowler of TOWIE, left) and tattoos (right, Cheryl Cole's enormous rose artwork) were big celebrity trends of 2013

As PREDICTED, Kate Middleton gave birth to a baby and then promptly alienated half the female population by 'snapping back' into shape.
Luckily she redeemed herself a few weeks later by stepping out on an official visit with - gasp! - grey roots, which was either an act of PR genius or a genuine oversight. Either way, a triumph.
The year ended on a beauty high: the release of make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury's new cosmetic range, which saw Selfridges' beauty hall mobbed by women desperate to get their hands on Kate Moss's lipstick and J-Lo's cheek-contouring palette.
Not since the launch of Tom Ford's make-up line (which was also devised by Tilbury) have cosmetics been this exciting - and with one advantage: her eyeshadows don't cost £64.
But for all Tilbury's genius, the beauty triumph of 2013 was Nigella Lawson's court face.
From Helen Mirren's pink hair, to Madonna's ill-advised grilles, we bring you the best and worst of this year's beauty trends
From Helen Mirren's pink hair, to Madonna's ill-advised grilles, we bring you the best and worst of this year's beauty trends

Doubtless the experience of having her marital laundry aired in public was deeply unpleasant. But never has a woman looked so utterly fabulous under pressure.
Let's not forget that before she became the queen of cupcakes, she wrote about beauty for a newspaper. If she ever tires of cooking, there's always lipstick.
My prediction for 2014? A Nigella make-up line. Stranger things have happened.

Cheese-y! Miley Cyrus and siblings recreate their awkward childhood Christmas photo

Miley Cyrus reined in the need to shock to recreate a treasured family photo which she shared with fans on Christmas Day.
The singer posted a flashback snap of her family on Christmas Day - split with the same photo updated with her siblings and parents - albeit looking somewhat older.
How Ya Like Me Now: Miley shared an Instagram photo of her family recreating a Christmas photo from her youth, seen here with siblings Trace, left, momm Tish, Miley, Noah, dad Billy Ray, Braison Cyrus and Brandi
How Ya Like Me Now: Miley shared an Instagram photo of her family recreating a Christmas photo from her youth, seen here with siblings Trace, left, mum Tish, Miley, Noah, dad Billy Ray, Braison Cyrus and Brandi
The two-picture composite showed a young Miley posing with her siblings Noah,13, Trace, 24, Braison. 19, and Brandi, 26, plus father Billy Ray Cyrus and mother Tish, in front of a Christmas tree.
It was juxtaposed with a current family photo showing Miley and her family in a similar pose but with the children all grown up.

Miley, 21, is seen looking cute as a button in a red sweater, as her Hannah Montana fans might remember her.
And at that point in her life, father Billy Ray was probably the most famous member of the Cyrus family. However, things have changed somewhat since.
The only sibling missing from the line up is Miley's half-brother Christopher Cody, 21.
The 21-year-old was born after his mother, Kristin Luckey, had a brief relationship with musician Billy Ray when she was a waitress in South Carolina.
They had split by the time their son was born on April 8, 1992, and Billy Ray’s new girlfriend Tish was already pregnant with Miley. The siblings have met just five times.
Christopher told The Mirror his last meeting with Miley was in Fort Worth, Texas, November 2007: 'While she was on stage I was watching her from the sidelines.

'Afterwards we spent 20 minutes in her bus. Her voice is fantastic and I'm very proud of my sister.'
But he is disappointed he does not have a closer relationship with the Cyrus family.
Miley also shared a photo of herself wearing a black cowboy hat and large hoop earrings with the caption: 'rockin by B Ray swag.' She also posted a fun photo showing her family members jokingly attacking one other.
The accompanying text read 'annual family fist fight' and the picture showed Miley being strangled by one family member while another yanked on her hair.

Miley tweeted her annoyance at the early appearance of the song online, and vented her frustration to her 16 million followers on Twitter.
The 21-year-old pop star had been counting down the days until her video's official release on Thursday only to see it prematurely unveiled on Wednesday.
'We all know Smilers would break another record if it wasn't for the f*** face who leaked my video. Alllllll good! Keep smiling :),' she tweeted in reference to her fans known as Smilers.
The video showed Miley pushing the envelope yet again as she is seen mostly writhing on a bed in just her lingerie.
